“What’s the use of crying?”

I RARELY endorse companies; especially not financial firms--the necessity of doing rigorous due diligence before choosing a financial firm is so critical I don’t want anyone confusing my approval of a company executive with encouragement to invest with their company without doing careful research on their services and track record.

But Ellevest’s founder, Sallie Krawcheck, has just published the piece I wish I had written. "What’s the use of crying?” she asks in her latest blog,published on the Ellevest site today.  "During Brett Kavanaugh’s hearing, listening to Dr. Christine Blasey Ford give her testimony about him, I remember sitting in the Chicago airport, between flights, and watching it on my phone. I cried. I watched other women bear witness … and also cry...The tissues came out again last week for Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s Senate confirmation hearings. The proceedings seesawed between infuriating exchanges and heart-swelling moments of clarity…”

I cried too Sallie, for the fact that Hawley and Cruz and their gang keep getting away with misogyny and racism; for the decency of Cory Booker who stood up to the pure evil they represent, and for the brave women who are asked to endure so much in service of this country.

I encourage you to read Krawcheck’s comments about Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s Senate confirmation hearings. Krawcheck’s reaction to the hearings is so clear, so correct, so heartbreakingly familiar to those of us who recognize the ignorant, racist, and self serving attacks, on KBJ that I can only hope we will stand with Sallie to demand the Senate confirm this remarkable jurist, person, woman, mother, professional, spouse, and defender of the Constitution, immediately. I hope Krawcheck’s voice emboldens other corporate leaders to speak out as forcefully and as clearly as she has.
